P0497 Possible Symptoms

P0497 Possible Causes

  Faulty Purge Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV),Purge Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV) harness is open or shorted,Purge Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV) circuit poor electrical connection  

P0497 Description

  The Purge Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV) is a device used to meter vapor flow to the engine. The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the PCSV using a duty cycle signal. The ECM sets the OBDII code when the PCSV is out of factory specifications.
