The primary purpose of the transmission cooling fan is to control the air flow moving across the transmission heat exchangers. The transmission cooling fan control system resides in the Chassis Control Module. The chassis control module receives transmission oil temperature and vehicle speed data to control the Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) duty cycle of the cooling fan. The chassis control module communicates on the High Speed GM Local Area Network (HS-GMLAN) serial data bus.
