P0500 INFINITI Description

The vehicle speed sensor outputs a 4 pulse signal for every revolution of the rotor shaft, which is rotated by the transmission output shaft via the driven gear. After this signal is converted into a more precise rectangular waveform by the waveform shaping circuit inside the combination meter, it is then transmitted to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of these pulse signals. Most Infiniti Models 2006-2011: When the sensor rotor rotates, the magnetic field changes. It converts the magnetic field changes to current signals (rectangular wave) and transmits them to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Actuator and Electric Unit (Control Unit). The vehicle speed signal is sent to the combination meter from the ABS Actuator and Electric Unit (Control Unit) by Controlled Area Network (CAN) communication line. The combination meter then sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM) by CAN communication line. Most Infiniti Models 2012 + : The Engine Control Module (ECM) receives vehicle speed signals from two different paths via CAN communication line: One is from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Actuator and Electric Unit (Control Unit) via the combination unit and the other is from Transmission Control Module (TCM).
