P2089 MERCEDES-BENZ Description

 

This fault code is stored in the engine control module when a malfunction is detected in the continuously variable valve timing system. Mechanical defects such as incorrect valve timing or low oil level/pressure can cause a fault code to be stored. Mechanical issues should be ruled out before carrying out an further diagnostic tests.
